The Princess & The Lobster

20 september 2015 - Picton, Nieuw-Zeeland

Yes I'm still alive!

Life in Picton is awesome. The town is much bigger than National Park Village was, working here is also fine and the backpackers I'm staying at is great. Lots of people I meet here. People with their own incredible stories and reasons to be here.

I've a story to tell, that explains the title of this story. Do you remember Frazer? Maybe you don't. Maybe you remember him as the grumpy old English guy from Paihia whom I met in the Pipi Bar, where he kept talking about a barstool for 30 minutes. Frazer and I kept in touch via facebook and he told me he was in Rotorua, planning to go to Wellington. I was joking when I told him to take the ferry from Wellington to Picton to see me, but of course he thought I was being serious. Next Monday, after work I went to the "Toot 'n Whistle" pub to catch up with Frazer, the grumpy old English guy.
It was a lovely warm day and mister was sitting in the sun all day long (after the ferry of course). With a beer in one hand and a smoke in the other he sat outside, face as red as a lobster. There was a plastic bag on the table when we said hi. He bought me a present, when I looked in the bag I started to laugh because Frazer got me a tiara! Of course he bought a tiara, he always called me princess clown feet. Why I'm a princess, I don't know. Perhaps because I'm the most beautiful lady he has ever seen :-P It was a real tiara, with diamonds, rubies, sapphires and emeralds. Gorgeous! Frazer bought a jar of beer (three jars actually) and after a while I forgot I was wearing the tiara. Frazer was in the clouds and so was I, because I felt like a real princess. We also went to another pub where I found out I had six missed calls. I called back and it was Camille from the backpackers, saying that they were worried about me. It was only half past 7, so I was very surprised they were so worried. At 9 pm Frazer and I said our goodbyes, the next day we would go out for dinner.
That's what we did. The next afternoon we went to an Irish pub, after Toot 'n Whistle and afterwards to the barn. I had a very nice meal: meat, French fries, salad and... Heineken beer of course.
The next day, after work Frazer had checked in at my hostel, because he didn't liked the one he was staying at. This was our last evening so Frazer decided to make a nice meal for us, he bought some wraps, chicken, chili, salad, two kinds of sauces and white wine. It was a very very very nice evening! Dinner was great, very spicy but great! Heineken beer is always a good choice and so was the white wine. And with the tiara on my head I felt like a real princess!
The next morning I felt... Yes. Terrible. I had a huge hangover! And I had to work at 9. So with a headache I said goodbye to Frazer, who was taking the ferry that morning. Working with a hangover was a disaster, but I survived.

Guess where the lobster is nowadays? Of course. In Paihia. Drinking Heineken beers. Eating raw steaks that causes him heartburn. Talking to barstools and thinking about his princess. Till we meet again, Fraz! Miss you!!!

The other days I work. I don't have hangovers anymore and no more expensive meals :-( But life is good in New Zealand. Five months to go!

Miss you folks.
